Bookshop find! This one pretty much jumped off the shelf and into my hands. I cannot resist books like Where’s the Artist? by Susanne Rebscher and Annabelle von Sperber. Art history and children’s literature are passions of mine and when the two come together, oh, it’s heaven.
The wording is simple, “Pictures can tell stories…Do you love painting animals…It’s getting dark, so we created light,” which directs our attention to the oversized page spreads and all their beautiful, intricate details. Take a journey through art and time. Find hidden artists and elements featured in the back matter. Discover the characteristics of significant art movements, how they evolved from one to another, by immersing yourself within its pages. Where’s the Artist is a wonderful introduction to the arts, sure to spark a child’s interest.
