We unplugged over the school holidays just gone, and it was great! I don’t think we could do it on a permanent basis, because I enjoy coming on IG and seeing all your book recommendations, but it’s important to find a balance, especially for our kids, who have been surrounded by gadgets their entire lives. Like Blip, the cute robot in our story, my kids love being plugged into their computer.
Thankfully, they don’t need a power cut to encourage them outside. When Blip stumbles into the beautiful outdoors, she learns all sorts of new things, meets new friends and visits faraway places, all day long. As the sun sets, she ventures home, plugs in, but all she can think about are the joys she experienced being unplugged—sailing along a winding river and skipping through a forest. This is a sweet story and a sweet reminder to unplug, head out into the wild, in the fresh air, explore and appreciate all it has to offer.
