Beware! There’s a monster in the hood. But Squirrel, Hedgehog and Mouse are not afraid. The warnings spread by the packs of cat, bats and rats running away from the monster don’t faze the brave trio. They go in search of the one-eyed monster whilst declaring, “Come out, come out, wherever you are!…you won’t scare us!” But, as we following along with the maze-like urban cityscape illustrations on alternate page spreads, we see that it’s the monster in a hoodie in the hood who creeps up on them.

Fear of the unknown, misconceptions, quick judgements, following along with the pack vs being an individual, Monster in the Hood confronts each of these issues, as well as honouring bravery and friendship. Things aren’t always as scary as they seem.
